Autumn Plute and Pat Matthews were our guests at the December meeting. Their knowledge about gardening and landscape design was so informative. You can tell they really have a passion for everything gardening.
Autumn has a degree in Urban and Environmental Horticulture and
Pat is the son of the Airport Garden Center founders and also a Master Gardener.
Stop and visit them for more information on what you need to be planting and how to keep it healthy!!
We also had our Christmas Party and gift exchange. Oh, and lots and lots of good food!!!
At our November meeting we enjoyed two presentations. Rachel Storck with Port Angeles Fine Arts Center told us about the Creative Start Blooming Artist Youth Program. We were glad to donate $1,500 to their program. Our second speaker was Emily Dexter with the Port Angeles Food Bank. She was able to show us what was going on at the food bank with a slide show and the many ways the public can volunteer and make their current program succeed. We had a great very informative meeting that included horticulture, youth program, inspiration, hummingbirds, garden therapy and upcoming wreath making party.
Our guest speaker was Stew Cockburn, Landscapes by Cockburn and New Dungeness Nursery. He discussed plantings with fire protection in mind. He gave a very informative discussion and ideas for keeping our homes protected as much as possible should there be a fire. We also presented a check for $1,000 to the Pet Emergency Group. They won the drawing we had at our Forever Streamfest event. After our meeting several club members stayed and made luminaries.
September was a meeting to remember, Karla Salp with the WA State Department of Agriculture had a presentation on Washington's Native Bees.
